About Yuri's Night

On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit the Earth. To celebrate the anniversary of this milestone in space exploration, the Phoenix aerospace community typically has a Yuri's Night (YN) event on or around April 12 of each year. See this link for more information on the global Yuri's Night celebrations.

The Phoenix chapters of the National Space Society and the Moon Society have traditionally supported or sponsored Yuri’s Night events in the Phoenix area. The Phoenix Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics has also supported these events.

2020 Event

On Saturday, April 11 we planned to visit the Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West to view the art exhibit: “Paul Calle’s Life of Exploration: From the Mountains to the Moon”. This was to be followed by an informal lunch at a nearby restaurant. The event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
